Christmas Minis / Mini Noël

This year I decided to offer Christmas Minis to my friends. I took this an opportunity to practice my studio technical skills. I haven’t done studio work for a while. I had a blast! I also learned a few things. The first thing is that fake snow was not the best idea for a background, at least not the way I did it. It took me a lot of time to make it look better in post-production. (Post-production is when I work on the picture with software on my computer). The second thing, is that in some pictures, I forgot to change the aperture of my camera when I had more than one person. (Aperture controls the brightness of the image that passes through the lens and falls on the image sensor. It also affects the depth of your photo). That doesn’t sound too serious, but I can tell you that this is a novice mistake that I should have caught. Finally, I have to find a better way to get the attention of kids who don’t want to have their pictures taken. I’m glad I used my friends as guinea pigs this year!

All in all though, I have several beautiful photos that I am proud of and I would like to share them with you! I am certain that I’ll be better next year with all the learning I’ll do this year. And who knows maybe I will offer the chance to get Christmas Minis to more people!

Cette année j’ai décidé d’offrir des Minis de Noël à mes amis. J’ai également pris cela comme une opportunité pour pratiquer mes techniques de studio. Je n’ai pas fait de studio depuis un bon bout. Je me suis éclatée! J’ai également fait quelques apprentissages. Le premier est que la fausse neige n’était pas ma meilleure idée, en tout cas pas de la façon que je l’ai fait. Cela m’a pris beaucoup de temps en postproduction. (La postproduction est lorsque je travaille les photos avec un logiciel sur mon ordinateur). Le deuxième est que dans quelques photos je n’ai pas changé l’ouverture de ma caméra lorsque j’avais plus d’une personne. (L’ouverture c’est la quantité de lumière que votre objectif laisse rentrer dans l’appareil grâce à un système de diaphragme en iris. Cela a aussi un impact sur la profondeur de la photo). Cela ne semble pas trop grave, mais je peux vous confier que ceci est une erreur de débutante que j’aurais dû attraper! Finalement, je dois trouver une meilleure façon d’attirer l’attention des enfants qui ne veulent pas prendre de photo. Je suis vraiment contente d’avoir utilisé mes amis comme cobayes cette année!
